Brian has been an advocate for the power of small business and startup companies for 20 years.  With an extensive experience in start-ups, Fortune 500 executive consulting, sales and product building; Brian believes everyone can make a difference - just given a chance.  This background is why Brian hopes B4B can touch the lives of elementary students throughout the US.

Alfred Yu

Chief Financial Officer


Alfred has spent most of his career at hyper-growth startups and is currently the VP of Finance at Bill.com. He has also previously held roles at Charles Schwab and KPMG. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and is an active CPA. Alfred was inspired to join Bytes for Bits because he sees the importance of giving his twin daughters exposure to programming at a young age to help them solve everyday problems and be prepared for a lifetime of opportunities.

James Tsiamis

Co-Founder


​Jim brings over 20 years of experience in the technology industry.  His career focus has been on performance and scalability solutions for some of the largest technology companies in the world. He is currently the Senior Manager of Performance and Capacity Engineering at Twitter and has previously held engineering and management positions at PeopleSoft, Oracle, and Salesforce.com. Through his four children, Jim has developed a passion for teaching coding to elementary school kids.

Mark Ward

Teacher


​​Mark has been working in Information Technology for various large clients on the East coast and in the Bay Area for over 20 years, including McKesson, AT&T, and Wells Fargo Bank.  He started his career as a programmer and went on to become a technical lead and business analyst, specializing in Oracle database systems.  Mark resides in Piedmont.  He and his wife Anne have two children, ages 8 and 15, and he has enjoyed coaching their soccer teams through the years.  Mark also enjoys coaching in the classroom setting and teaching his love of computer programming.

Michael Leeder

Co-Founder


In 2015, Michael and James were on their school’s committee charged with finding more STEM programming. After reviewing various options, Mike and Jim realized that the most affordable route for families would be to create their own after school coding program.  Since then, Mike has been a teacher, program manager, fundraiser, and evangelist for Bytes for Bits, while also an advocate for computer coding in early education. In parallel, Mike has spent over a decade with Merrill Lynch and is currently a Senior Vice President.  Mike is a longtime San Francisco resident and proud parent of two boys in 1st and 3rd grade. 

Paul Lei

Teacher


Paul grew up in New York City and moved to Los Angeles the last year of high school. From there, he attended Cornell University and University of South California graduating from both with degrees in Microbiology and Computer Science. He also obtained an MBA from USC . He worked at Xerox for twenty years, first as a software developer specializing in communications protocols then as a software delivery manager. He was able to invest in real estate and equities and retire early. Paul has volunteered in various community organizations including Project Open Hand in San Francisco and Project Angel Food in Los Angeles. Currently he is raising two amazing kids with his partner Eugene. His son Nathan, is in 3rd grade at SF Friends and daughter Flora, is at Pacific Primary.

Henry Ritchie

Co-Founder


​Hank has more than 20 years of technology and management experience.  He ran development and operations for a large collections platform at Wells Fargo Bank, developed a number of internal training programs in his career, and has recently been working on a series of program consulting engagements.  Hank also volunteered with Junior Achievement for the past five years.  He is also actively involved at the Dolphin Swimming and Rowing Club.

Ashley Frohlking

Teacher


Ashley studies Graphic Design at the Academy of Art University and is a Lead Teacher at Bytes 4 Bits. She enjoys creativity and visual communication and has designed books, websites, and packaging for various target audiences. In her free time she spends designs and plays video games.
